Stroud Showground is home to many significant community events such as the Stroud Show, Stroud Rodeo and Stroud Rolling Pin and Brickthrowing Contest. The Showground reserve is also utilised for pony club, riding for the disabled, cricket, soccer, dressage, dog showing and school sporting activities.
Current State of Showground
Following on from the devastating storm event of April 2015, we are delighted that the recovery at Stroud Showground is continuing:
- The showground is now open once more for passive recreation such as jogging and dog walking.
- The swimming pool has been totally repaired and now is open for normal use.
- The showground oval is expected to be ready for the start of the cricket season.
- Camping areas are available - unpowered only. Bookings required.
- Pony Club are using their part of the showground.
Please note - The above status overrides the following information until the showground regeneration is completed. Whilst recovery of the showground continues, Council advises caution when using all showground facilities.
All types of camping and overnight stays in caravans and campervans is permitted at Stroud Showground. The showground has to offer powered sites, amenities, showers, and a laundry. To book a site please phone the Stroud District Office on 02 4994 5204. Please note, the district office is open from 9am to 12pm Monday to Friday.
Facilities at the Showground include: showground arena, rodeo arena (with flood lighting), various stalls and pavilions, grandstand, canteen, camping area, amenities (including a disabled toilet), sporting field with cricket pitch, cricket practice nets, skatepark, playground and swimming pool. There are tennis courts (with floodlighting) on the reserve as well and are managed by the Stroud Tennis Club.
Kevin Francis Park in the showground includes an infants playground comprising a single spring rocker and a small unit with slide, is perfect for children under 5 years old.
A Council 355 Committee assists with the management of the Showground reserve and consists of representatives from the various user groups.
All our recreational facilities are now smoke free. This means you cannot smoke within 10m of sports buildings, courts and playing fields, park furniture and park buildings, as well as designated swimming areas. Please refer to the Smoke Free Recreation Areas Policy for more information.
